For local search and listings

Search

Every place you can reach in the time you have, found in one request.

Search opens full screen, with room for the whole app.

How it's built

  1. Turns the address you type into a pointGeocoding
  2. Asks once for every place of the kind you chose within the time, by the mode you chosePOI search
  3. Streams the reachable area back first, then the places in it, so the map fills before the list is donePOI search

Build it yourself

The same calls from your own code, with the official SDK. A free key gets you started.

JavaScript

import { TravelTimeClient } from 'traveltime-api'

const client = new TravelTimeClient({ applicationId, apiKey })

// The address a search starts from
const { features } = await client.geocoding('Old Street, London')

Where it fits

Listing sites and local search show what is really near a place, by the journey there rather than by distance.

How does Search decide what is in reach?

By travel time on the mode you pick, not by a radius: the POI search API returns only the places a journey reaches within the time.

Why does the map fill in two steps?

The reachable area is sent as soon as TravelTime answers, and the places inside it follow.

Can I put Search on my own site?

Talk to us about the POI search API, or start with a free key for the TravelTime calls around it.
