Data API

For developers and data teams

Data API

What is around any place: places, transport, open spaces, neighbourhood and people within reach.

Data API opens full screen, with room for the whole app.

How it's built

  1. Finds the start you typeGeocoding
  2. Maps everywhere reachable from it in the time you pick, on the standard endpoint where fast does not serve the modeH3
  3. Asks about those hexagons, one family per layer: places, transport, open spaces, neighbourhood and peopleData API
  4. Scores every hexagon against your own rulesData API

Build it yourself

The same calls from your own code, with the official SDK. A free key gets you started.

JavaScript

import { TravelTimeClient } from 'traveltime-api'

const client = new TravelTimeClient({ applicationId, apiKey })

// The hexagons reachable from the start
const reach = await client.h3Fast(request)

Where it fits

Location teams profile a site or a neighbourhood from what is actually within reach of it, hexagon by hexagon.

What does the Data API return?

Facts about each hexagon in reach: places, transport, open spaces, neighbourhood and people, one family per call.

Where does it work?

Most layers answer in Great Britain, the United States, France, Spain, the Netherlands and Australia. Road access is Great Britain and the US only, and the page says so where a layer is not served.

What are Your rules?

Scoring rules of your own, which the Data API checks each hexagon in reach against.
